See you at the St Margarets Fair on 5 July 2025! Join us and try a sport you’ve probably never heard of.

Have you ever played Boccia? Any idea what Boccia is? We didn’t, until we started exploring ways to make our community pavilion more inclusive and accessible.
Boccia (think “gotcha!”) is a Paralympic sport that often gets compared to Pétanque or Boules. Players throw, kick or use a ramp to get their red or blue balls as close as they can to the “jack” – scoring points along the way. It’s been played at the Paralympics – indoors or outdoors – for more than 40 years. And we can’t wait to have a go with you.
We’re not Boccia experts, but we’ll have someone there who is. So, we’ll all be learning. And we’re not likely to have the 12 meters you’d normally need for a Boccia court… so we’ll keep things small, simple and fun.
Want the latest pavilion news?
If you’d like an update on our pavilion, the St Margarets Fair is the perfect place to chat to our team. We’ve achieved so much in the past 12 months. We’ve:
· run an incredibly successful crowd-funder, raising more than £40,000 from hundreds of supporters
· launched our first two major funding applications (fingers crossed)
· hosted a community picnic, which returns on 7 September
· welcomed new volunteers and a Paralympic gold medallist as a trustee
· redesigned our website and revamped our comms
· worked on the final pavilion design, along with endless other bits of behind-the-scenes admin.
Before the end of the year, we’ll be submitting more funding applications to organisations like the Football Foundation and the National Lottery.
Know someone at the Football Association?
If you know anyone at the Football Association, please get in touch. We’d love to better understand what it takes to succeed with our upcoming application. This is a major funding opportunity and we’re looking for any help we can get. Send us an email at hello@mcsp.org.uk or use the contact form.
Big congrats to the new Friends of Moormead Park chair
You may have spotted Tom Bird in our Moormead Pavilion video. He’s been involved with cricket at the park for years, and is passionate about the pavilion project. Tom takes over from Will Flower, who’s earned a rest after serving as chair for four years. Good luck Tom, we can’t wait to partner with you.
Save the date, and pack a picnic: 7 September 2025
Make summer last a little longer. Join us for a day of food, music, performances, sports and the most important ingredient: our wonderful community.
The Moormead Community Picnic is back. Festivities will kick off at 11.30am. We hope to see you all there.
