It’s back! Join us for the Moormead Community Picnic on 7 September 2025

Make summer last a little longer. Join us for a day of food, music, performances, sports and the most important ingredient: our wonderful community.

See you on Sunday 7 September 2025

Festivities will kick off at 11.30am. We’re hoping for a sunny day you can spend with your kids, friends, family and neighbours.

This year, we’re planning something new and exciting

We’re arranging to host a few different accessible / inclusive sporting activities at the picnic. You’ll get to have a go, and experience how our new pavilion will open doors for folks who haven’t been able to use the park.

Plus, you’ll be able to enjoy all the things that made last year’s picnic so special: local live music, delicious food, ice-cream, dancing (you’re welcome to dance, but we’ll also have a performance by the Marble Hill Dance Studio). Expect plenty of entertainment for the kids, raffles and maybe even some group yoga.

If you have ideas for the day, or want to partner up to run a stall, get in touch

In other news…

While we’re getting ready for a fun day in the park, we’ve also been hard at work behind the scenes. We’ve submitted our first major funding application, hoping to secure around £400,000 from the Richmond Council’s Community Fund.

Within a few weeks, we’ll know if we’ve made it through the first knockout round. This fund is perfect for the pavilion project – it’s all about regeneration, redevelopment and community cohesion – so we’re optimistic.

We’ll keep you posted about this application, and all the others we’re planning to submit this year (National Lottery, the Football Foundation, the Marathon Foundation, etc).

Meet our new volunteers

You’ve been getting regular updates about the Moormead Pavilion project. That’s largely thanks to Alan Law, who’s been working some magic on the way we communicate. Between Alan and Richard White, another one of our brilliant volunteers, we hope you’re feeling more informed about our progress.

Both Alan and Richard have decades of experience in their respective fields. Alan comes from the energy world, while Richard’s career has involved PR and comms.

You’ll get a chance to meet many members of the Moormead Pavilion volunteer team at our picnic in September.

“Come and hear more about what’s happening and share your thoughts or ideas,” says Alan. “Get a feel for some of the new things the park will be used for. It’s going to be a great social gathering.”

For Alan, who has a young daughter, Moormead Park has proved to be “a salvation”.

“It’s great to have that on our doorstep. It’s a fantastic facility. And it’s only going to get better with the pavilion.”

Whether you come for the music, the food or to spend some time with your neighbours, we can’t wait to see you there!
