We’ve invited a few extra friends
This year’s picnic theme is all about making the pavilion as inclusive and accessible as possible. We want everyone to enjoy Moormead Park and its fantastic facilities.
If you joined us at the St Margarets Fair, you may have already tried Boccia, a sport played at the Paralympics. We had a great time learning it with you. If you missed it, don’t worry, we’ll be setting up a Boccia court at the picnic. It’s loads of fun.
We’re going to have all kinds of other inclusive sports too, from wheelchair tennis to walking football. To help us on the tennis court, we’re excited to be joined by Mark Bullock, an inclusive sports development expert.
Mark has travelled to over 80 countries developing wheelchair tennis and supporting athletes at Paralympic games. For more than 30 years, he’s worked as a coach, manager and consultant.
“I’m looking forward to delivering some inclusive tennis at the Moormead Park Community Picnic day, where people with a wide variety of impairments and long-term health conditions can come and have a go at tennis,” says Mark. “See you on the seventh!”
A chance to chat to the pavilion team
If you’re curious about where the pavilion project stands, the picnic is the perfect place to meet the team working to build it. Many of us will be wearing bright yellow shirts – you won’t miss us.
You can ask us questions, hear about our latest fundraising efforts and find out what’s on the horizon. If you’re keen to get involved and volunteer, we’d love to talk to you.
So much has happened since our first picnic last year. We showed how much support the project has through a successful community fundraiser, launched the first of our major funding applications, welcomed new volunteers and have been hard at work on the final pavilion design.
And if you haven’t joined our new WhatsApp community, please do. It’s a great place to get all your pavilion news and updates. All you need is this link.
It’s going to be a great day – come along
We’re hoping for a sunny afternoon and can’t wait to see you at the picnic. Ideally, we'd link to the organisations / businesses. I know not all will have websites, but they may have socials?
