We’ve launched a new WhatsApp community to bring you the latest pavilion project updates. Join us and see it in action at our picnic on 7 September., 11.30am

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to see us at the St Margarets Fair earlier this month. We had a brilliant time playing Boccia with you. You’ve given us fresh fundraising ideas and yet another reminder of how important building this pavilion is to our community.
We chose Boccia because it’s a great example of the kind of sports and activities we can introduce to make the park more accessible and inclusive. The new pavilion plays a key role in opening up Moormead Park to more of our neighbours.
If you couldn’t get to the fair, but want to give Boccia a try, you’re in luck because…
We’ll play plenty of Boccia at our community picnic on 7 September
If you haven’t yet, pop it in your diary. It’s going to be a wonderful community event.
There’s going to be live music and loads of local food (and sweet treats like ice cream and candy floss). We’ll have performances by members of the Marble Hill Dance Studio and Krazy Kidz entertainment.
We’ll set up a Boccia court, but you’ll also be able to try other accessible sports, from walking football to archery and circus skills. Boccia, by the way, is a Paralympic sport that’s similar to Pétanque or Boules.
The picnic starts at 11.30am and we’ll be wrapping up by 3.30pm. Pack your picnic basket and come spend an afternoon with your community.
What’s up with the new WhatsApp community?
We’ve created a new WhatsApp channel to make sure you know the latest news about our pavilion. Admins will use the platform to broadcast important updates – so don’t worry, it’s not going to compete with all the school or work groups you’re already on.
There’ll be subchannels, or temporary channels, like the one we’ve set up for the picnic. Those will give you a chance to share photos and chat to neighbours.
Join the new WhatsApp community here.
A boost from our biker friends at FOSS
A huge thank you to FOSS for supporting the Moormead Pavilion again this year. After another successful fundraising ride from London to Paris, FOSS donated 10% of proceeds – or just over £3,000 – to our project. Well done to all the parents who took part in this great initiative.
Speaking of fundraising, we’re busy submitting funding applications. We’ve launched two major ones, and are preparing to send more. If you know anyone at the Football Association, please get in touch.
We’re looking for a young trustee to join our team
You’ll hear more about this in weeks to come, but we’ve started a search for a young trustee to join the pavilion team. Why? To help us be more diverse in our approach and to make sure the park serves younger people.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for someone who’s 18 or older. They’ll get free training and new skills, which they can include on their CVs. Not to mention making a meaningful contribution to their community. If you want to apply or know someone who’s interested, drop us a line at hello@mcsp.org.uk.
If you want to chat to us about this, or anything else pavilion related, catch us at the picnic on 7 September.
See you there.
