Richmond Council has awarded £350,000 to the Moormead Pavilion community project – pushing the total raised to over £500,000. We’re wrapping up 2025 on a high, and we couldn’t have done it without you!
Our first major funding application has succeeded, filling the sails of the Moormead Pavilion project with a gust of fresh energy.
The competition was tough. Richmond Council received around 40 applications. But in the end, our vision for an inclusive community pavilion – and the support the project has received from you – helped us secure the lion’s share of the Community Fund award.
The injection of £350,000 means we’ve crossed the £500,000 funding mark. And we’ve got big plans for 2026!
“This is absolutely perfect for us as a community,” said local councillor Katie Mansfield. “Moormead Park is really important for us, and Moormead Pavilion brings the facilities we need. It'll make the park really accessible for all of us.”
We’re not there yet, but we’re finalising detailed plans and costs. The latest funding shows confidence in the project and will no doubt help our applications to charities like the Marathon Foundation, Football Foundation and the National Lottery. In fact, we’re already preparing our next application and will share more about our 2026 plans soon.
“A massive thank you to Richmond Council for their generous support,” said lead trustee Gariesh Sharma. “We wouldn’t be where we are without a partner willing to back this project and the wonderful community behind it.”
Before we all wind down for the holidays, please consider joining our team of volunteers. We’re going need your help in the months ahead. Whatever your area of expertise, you’ll be able to help shape the pavilion’s future.
Most urgently, we’re looking for a Managing Director, who will, amongst other things, help us appoint an operator for the pavilion. If you have a few hours a week, check out the role and email gariesh@mcsp.org.uk.
We’ve received so much support from our friends in and around St Margarets. Some have cycled to Paris others have hosted Jazz evenings, with proceeds going to the pavilion. If you’re interested in doing some fundraising for the project, get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.
And if you haven’t yet, sign up to our newsletter.
